Fallout 76's Treasure Hunter event is active through May 25, and it mostly revolves around looting and crafting Mole Miner Pails over the next few days. In this guide, we'll explain how to find them, what each type of pail contains and recap the major rewards players can get after consuming them.
Fallout 76 Treasure Hunter Basics & Spawns
The Fallout 76 Treasure Hunter event revolves around Treasure Hunter Mole Miners that look like this. They are Legendary but appear to be locked to level 40. To find one, go anywhere in the Ash Heap section of the map and listen for a radio static noise. The louder that noise is, the closer you are to a Mole Miner.
Our best strategy is to head to Camden Park and server hop to farm these beasts, but here are a few other spawns worth checking out:
- Welch: In the main plaza, in a house southeast of the plaza, etc.
- Brim Quarry: By the tower and near the fusion generator.
- Mount Blair: Anywhere.
- Burning Mine: Near a brick building and near red doors at the bottom of the stairs.
These aren't the only Mole Miner spawns in the entirety of the Ash Heap, but they are the ones with the highest percentage of Miners. With that in mind, we suggest making your way through these locations and server hopping as necessary. Hopping may not be the most noble of strategies, but, considering the event only lasts a few days and these Mole Miners can be hard to find, it may be helpful to abuse it.
How Mole Miner Pails Work
Once you've taken down enough Treasure Hunter Mole Miners, you'll probably start collecting Mole Miner Pails. There are tiers of pails one can find, and the reward you get for consuming them depends on the type of pail being consumed.
- Dusty Mole Miner Pail: These are the most common type of pail, meaning you'll find them around 63 percent of the time. These drop common Taxidermy plans and other rewards.
- Mole Miner Pail: These are mid-tier and drop about 27 percent of the time. They also drop common Taxidermy Plans, as well as Treasure Hunt Plans and other rewards.
- Ornate Mole Miner Pail: Good luck finding one, because these only drop about 10 percent of the time. With regard to rewards, these are required for getting any of the rare Taxidermy Plans. They also drop Treasure Hunt rewards at the highest rate.
It's worth noting, however, that it is possible to craft Mole Miner Pails of all tiers as well. You can purchase one of each pail type from each vendor and then fill it with your own loot. Hopping to another server refreshes the stock of pails, but it should be noted that crafting Perks like Chemist and Super Duper do not work on pails.
With all this in mind, we'd suggest crafting Ornate Pails before anything else as long as you have the supplies to do so. Whether crafted or found, all Pails are consumed from the aid tab.
Treasure Hunter Rewards
Mole Miner Pails essentially act as loot boxes, which means they can drop any number of reward types, including Scrap, aid items, Taxidermy Plans, Weapon Plans, Armor Plans, Armor Mod Plans, Power Armor Plans and more.
