A name that has been making rounds in the world of One Piece currently is 'Big News' Morgans. He is creating quite the buzz, especially after the recent reverie incident in the Mary Geoise. 'Big News' Morgans made his debut during the Whole Cake Island Arc as he was invited to her tea party by Charlotte Linlin aka Big Mom. As evident by his appearance, Morgans looks like a tall human-Albatros hybrid with a long beak and small eyes. He has got a set of wings that almost resemble human arms and a long tail.
Morgans is supposed to play a crucial role in the story of One Piece in near future. Fans are speculating that he is going to help the Straw Hat pirates and their honorary pirate and dear friend princess Vivi of the Arabasta kingdom as he is the one who is currently giving refuge to her in his flying ship. Even though he had a late manga debut, Morgans is not someone new to the story of One Piece, instead, he is one of the most relevant and important characters in the franchise.

Morgans is very well known as 'Big News' Morgans in the One Piece world as he is the president of the World Economy News Paper, the organization that solely publishes the newspapers along with the pirate-wanted posters along with their bounties worldwide. He is also one of the emperors of the underworld of the One Piece universe. All of these things make Morgans one of the most influential people in the franchise. He has the monopoly when it comes to publishing and selling news worldwide. He decides what news gets published and what does not. Navy fleet Admiral Akainu got angry and nervous at the same time when Morgans declared Luffy emerging as the fifth emperor of the sea this only proved the gigantic scale of influence that he owns in the world of One Piece.
He is not only influential but also quite strong when it comes to raw power, he even beat a Cipher Pol agent who was sent to assassinate him in a matter of seconds. Fans have been speculating that Morgans will be playing an important role in the set-up of the Elbaf arc and more after his forefront introduction in manga and his connection to what took place at the reverie in Mary Geoise and princess Vivi and King Wapol.
Connection to Gold D. Roger
'Big News' is supposed to have had a connection with the King of the Pirates himself, Gold D. Roger. This connection finds its origin in a fan theory that has gained popularity recently on several social media forums dedicated to One Piece. This fan speculates that Morgans is a former Roger pirate and is created by a Reddit user called MrBushido56. The theory states that everyone in the One Piece world is aware of the fact that Gold D. Roger was the first person to sail and explore all the islands on the Grand Line including the last island known as Laugh Tale. He even found Joy Boy's ancient treasure on Laugh Tale called One Piece.
Hence, He was declared the King of the Pirates but where was the proof that he pulled off such difficult tasks. This is where Morgans comes in, the theory goes on to speculate that Roger was sure that he and his crew will surely travel to Laugh Tale and find the One Piece. Therefore, he took on a journalist who was trying to move up in the world of journalism, and it was Morgans who joined Roger in the latter journey to Laugh Tale to confirm the concreteness of Roger's pirate life's grand finale. After all, It was Morgans who published the story of Roger's achievements. He came up with the title which conferred it upon Roger calling him the King of the Pirates after which everyone including the navy, all the other pirates, and people of different kingdoms were shocked.
What Could Be His Real Identity?
It is also mentioned in the theory that he deliberately left out many details in the news of Roger becoming the King of the Pirates like the description of the One Piece treasure. There seems to be some evidence to back up this intriguing fan theory which partially comes from the author of One Piece himself, Eiichiro Oda. Oda stated in an interview that Morgans is a Devil Fruit user that has eaten the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit. Oda also stated that Morgans is constantly in his Human-Albatross hybrid form. This Devil Fruit grants him the abilities like transforming into a Human-Albatross hybrid form, complete Albatross form, and strength, etc.
The theory stated that there is a big reason that Oda has not revealed Morgans's human form as he is saving it for the later part of the franchise to give fans a big reveal. The theory even finds two contenders for the human form of Morgans from Roger's crew Spencer and Momora who somewhat resemble Morgans's Human-Albatross hybrid form. However, this is just a theory regarding the news mogul of the One Piece world. So, he could or could not be a former Roger pirate as his real human identity remains unknown. Fans would only know the backstory of One Piece world's news boss when Oda decides to give a glimpse into the past life of 'Big News' Morgans.
