Paul Ray Barnhart Obituary - 2022 (2024)

Paul R. Barnhart

92, of West Alexandria, Ohio, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on January 13, 2022.

He was born in Greenup, Kentucky on October 26, 1929 to Ulysses (Leslie) Barnhart and Bertha Adkins.

He grew up during the depression, attending schools in both Kentucky and Ohio. When he was 17 he was given permission by his father to join the Marines at the end of WWII - it was the highlight of his young life. He learned many skills while training, enjoying maneuverers in the Caribbean. After receiving an honorable discharge, he briefly returned to southern Ohio where he met the love of his life, Barbara J Barnhart. When Barbara moved to Dayton, Ohio to work at Wright Field (Wright Patterson Air force Base), Paul followed to work at Rockwell International. He married her on December 19th, 1952. Together, they raised five children, their pride and joy. Paul later became employed by Duriron, now Flowserve, where he finally retired as a quality tester. During their 64 years of marriage both were very involved in serving the Lord at various churches in the Dayton area. After retirement they moved to W. Alexandria to a bigger home so they could enjoy having all of their grown children and their families visit together. In 2016 he was devastated by the loss of his love. He remained devoted to her until his passing. Paul was a joy and a blessing to all who met him, sharing his love for Jesus and many stories from his days in the Marines.

He is survived by his children, Roxane (Rick) Fiste, Rodney (Debbie) Barnhart, Gregory (Lisa) Barnhart, Geoffrey (Tara) Barnhart, and Veronica Barnhart. Grandchildren, Molly (Jake) Bobo, Kyle Barnhart, Cary (Jessica) Barnhart, Brittney Fiste, Monica (Tony) Barnhart, Shane Barnhart, Garren Barnhart,Tacie Barnhart, Gracen Barnhart, Gannon Barnhart, Griffin Barnhart.
