ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with SimonMed policies and procedures.
• Responsible for managing patient health records.
• Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged. information.
• Consistent application of medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure.
• Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Prepares new patient charts, gathering documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health record.
• Ensures medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete.
• Create digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record when necessary.
• Assist with training associates in the HIM position.
• Participates in project teams and committees to advance operational strategies and initiatives as needed.
• Acts in a lead role with staff regarding general questions and assists with new hire training and developmental training.
• Applies good judgment and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software.
• Proficient computer and keyboard including MS Office application.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Multi-task/detail oriented.
• Ability to handle interruptions due to phone calls, emails and questions.
• Use of WebEx technology to communicate with peers in different locations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required between RIS and HIM teams.
• Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service.
• Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 year/Associate's Degree, and/or a combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Healthcare records, RIS, HIS, Radiology operational workflows.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking.

DRESS ATTIRE: Business Casual or scrubs dependent on department
